Fruits and vegetables are some of the essential foods that we dare not skip in our diet, these foods are so important to the body because they help in the building and development of the body cells and tissues. Below are few things that will happen to your body if you stop eating them.
1. Blurred vision.
If someone stops eating fruits and vegetables their eyesight will get worse and might subsequently lead to partial or total blindness at an early age. Vitamin A helps to improve eyesight and this vitamin is gotten mostly from fruits like carrots.
2. Your Body Begins To Smell.
Insufficient or No consumption of fruits and vegetables can be dangerous to the health of an individual because it makes one body stink. The kind of food we eat determines the kind of odour our body produces. Research has shown that people who consume more fruits and vegetables tend to smell good with or without using soap or deodorant compare to people who don't eat fruits and vegetables.
3. It causes Depression.
It is known that our brain is connected to our digestive tract and the food we eat does not only affect our size and shape but also our mental health. So when we refuse to eat fruits and vegetables it cause depression.
4. It Causes High Blood Pressure.
Consuming a low amount of fruit and vegetables can cause an increase in blood pressure. Minerals and vitamins are mostly gotten from fruits and vegetables, Magnesium tends to lower blood pressure by increasing the production of nitric oxide which helps to relax blood vessels.
Low intake of Vitamin D in the body results in high blood pressure.
Potassium counter the effect of sodium in the body which helps to excrete excess salt from the body. Salt is known to cause hypertension.
5. It Causes gastrointestinal tract infections
Fruits and vegetables contain some insoluble fibres which help to prevent colon cancer. This fibre also helps to prevent constipation by absorbing water from the guts and thus making the stool to be soft. But people who don't eat fruits and vegetables do not have this benefit of fibres.
6. Tooth decay.
The absence of fluoride in the diet causes Tooth decay. The absence of calcium causes poor teeth formation.
