Every pain has an underlying cause. Most people think pains are only felt following physical injuries but that's wrong. Pain is one way the body informs you of an anomaly in one or multiple parts of your body. Infection, cancer, heart disease, liver dysfunction and ulcers can produce pain.
With regards to location of a pain sensation there are two types of pain which are referred pain or direct pain. Direct pain are pain that you experience directly from the part of the body affected while inferred pain is one that is experienced in a different part of your body from the main source of pain. This is one reason why it is life-threatening to ignore any form of pain especially if you cannot determine the exact cause of the pain.
There are certain type of pains that indicate a serious health problem. If you experience pain in any of these parts of your body you need to see a doctor to ascertain if you need urgent medical intervention or not.
1. Pain in the left part of your heart. Pain in the left part of your heart usually emanate from the heart. It is a very important warning sign of heart attack, myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease or angina pectoris.
2. Pain in the lower right part of your abdomen. Most of the time people mistake this type of pain for hunger. They claim it is because they are hungry that they feel pain in this part of the body but this is not always true. If the pain is consistent and refuse to go even after you've tried several means of treating it then you need to see doctor to check out the cause of the pain. Pain from this part of the body usually indicate an underlying appendicitis.
3. Persistent pain in the form of headache. Pain in the head can have several causes. Hypertension, eye problem, infection and other health problems can cause headaches. This is why it is imperative that you don't trivialize any headache you have especially if you don't know the cause of the pain.
